New Years Eve 2004

And that is where we have to leave the Yammers story for now. I have reached the end of the material I had stored and I'm afraid I don't have the time to devote to extricating the Mighty one from his predicament.

I'll be loading things up on the blog as and when I can in future, so please check in every so often.

Christmas Eve 2004

A merry Christmas to anybody reading this. I've been busy this week, got the second page of the VC's strip finished and even managed to get the wrapping done!

Looking forward to getting Futurequake out in the spring, along with all the other things I'm involved with.

Friday 17th December

This week has seen me begin to settle into a new routine. I've finished a page and begun a second. Almost a quickly as I used to be able to turn projects around. I'm going to be spending the weekend trying to get the second page of the week finished and also try to get some thumbnails done for other upcoming projects. There is a lot of material to be prepared for the Bristol con in May.

Thursday 9th December

Posting early because I'm off tomorrow.

This week has been a very productive one. I have finished the last page of Johnny Upright, started on the V.C.'s strip with Richmond and I've also managed to find time for some quick Illos for a spoof Interview for 2000adreview.

On the other hand I've not done a stroke of Xmas shopping and the decorations need to go up!

Ah well, no rest for the wicked!

Friday 3rd December.

This week I have finally completed page 4 of Johnny Upright and have also managed to get a new Yammer completed.

There isn't much else on at the mo.... trying to get some pages done before Xmas.

Friday 19th November

This week I have actually managed to produce some new art for the Yammer. Kind of odd seeing as I haven't actually drawn him for about four years, but seeing as I've only got 4 episodes before I run out I thought I'd better get some new strips done. THe next problem after that is the plot. I've got another three episodes left to draw and then I'm into all new territory. The corner I've plotted myself into isn't going away so I'm just going to have to think about it.

Work is progressing (slower than I'd like) on Johnny Upright and the new DogBreath has arrived with a story by myself and Richmond Clements which is nice.

It has also given us the enthusiasm to sort a strip for the next issue. More on that eventually though.

This was hanging around on my hard drive. Don't think it's been seen before.

Friday 12th November

This week I have been re-structuring my estimated output. I'm seriously underperforming at the moment and need to maximise my available time. If I give up sleep for a couple of weeks I'll be able to catch up.

I've found an un-used Cosmic Ray piece that I sent to Solar wind.

I'm also waiting on the new to arrive. It is the first issue I've contributed too and I'm really excited to see the illustrations in print.

Friday 5th November. Better late than never.

This week I have completed the first page of Johnny Upright for Andrew Bartlett (and I was really pleased with the result, I'm looking forward to seeing the completed ) and I've finished the pencils for page 2.

I've also started work on a quick piece for the 2konline website, in honour of King Trout. Should be a fun piece when completed.

Got a lot on at work at the moment, and the new management has resulted in the amount of sneaky pencil monkey activity reducing to absolute zero.

Daniel has completed the school strip he was working on, and it has gone down a treat.

As always, comments are more than welcome.

Friday 29th October.

This week has seen the starting of some new strips. I've thumnailed both Johnny Upright for Andrew Bartlett and the second part of the VC's strip for Richmond Clements

I've also reached a decision on the format of the Lost Property comic collection I'm planning. It's going to be in A5 landscape, stapled a la DOGBREATH,.

All I need now is to make sure I've got enough strips!

Friday 22nd October

For the next few weeks I am having to make do with old scans of lettering, as when I drew these strips I was trying to streamline the process by lettering the original art. I've learned a bit since then.

Been working on the Jon & Gorath strips this week; for Lost property the comic. I've amassed a lot of material for that so far and I'm still unsure of the formatting to use.

Ah well, got some time off work next week, so I maight be able to decide soon.

Friday 8th October: Yammertime!

This week I have been recovering from Dreddcon, where Whistler went down a storm (Thanks to everybody who bought one).

I've begun working on Lost Property: The comic, and FQ has really moved up a notch.

I got a bollocking off the management at work, but they had caught me scribbling and are being okay about it now.

Busy busy busy.

Friday 1st October: Mighty Yammer.

Not posted for a couple of weeks, been way busy.

Hopefully I'll be back on schedule for these for a while. Think I@ve got about ten weeks before I run out of these and have to come up with some more.

Dreddcon tomorrow, so I'll see what mischief Rampage causes!

Tuesday 28th September

If anybody reading this is interested, I am about to launch a collection of the 'Whistler' strips that have appeared on the 2000adonline website.

The strips have all been retouched and greytoned, and the early episodes have had the scripts tweaked.

Example of the tweaked images:

Email whistlerstrip@aol.com if you would like a copy.

Sunday 26th September: update?

Been a bit busy just lately. Finished all the strip work I had to get done, and now I need to get Whistler ready for the printers.....

I need to get an ad for Whistler on here.

I hope to have a yammer for you (Whoever 'you' are) on Friday this week.

Friday 10th September: Archive piece and more

This week I have finished Toys, and it has gone to Phil for colouring. Looking forward to seeing what arrives.

Today is the deadline for entry to the BBC website comp, and last night I counted approx 10 entries. Hopefully Rampage will get a mention.

The printers for Whistler have finally gotten beck from holidays, which is good for my blood pressure.

I've been asked to help with a last minute strip for FQuake #3, script by James Mackay, only two pages but I think I'm going to be pushed to get it done with any quality after Deathsphere.

Found this in my folder, t'other day. Was one of the back covers for Top Snazz (issue #2 I think) and I still like it.

Next up for me is getting the two strips for Secret agent Sloppy out of the way. Then it's time to thumbnail the strips.

If there's no rest for the wicked, then I must be chuffing Evil!

This week: Finished Rampage, and begun work on Toys.

Friday 27th August: Mighty Yammer

Here is the Yammer in his new, regular Friday posting. Been way too busy for the last couple of days and work has slowed down appreciably because of it.

Still hoping to have the 'Rampage' preview ready for the end of next week.

Recieved the latest script for the future of sport: Deathsphere! Yeah baby!

Wednesday 25th August. MiniBolt work

I've decided to slow down on the Yammer, at the rate I was posting I would never be able to sustain keeping new episodes appearing.

Yammer will be a Friday only item from this week.

MiniBolt dug this out of his hard-drive yesterday, a piece I'd completely forgotten about. He did this when he was a tender 8 years old.

It's more than a little good in my opinion.

Monday 23rd August: Update on whats what.

As of today I have loaded the last episode of Whistler onto 2000adonline, I have toned and prepared the final episode for magazine format. I've received the second version of the back cover colours and it totally looks lush.

Been offered some more strip work for Solar wind, and a newspaper style strip for a member of the message board hive.

Work is continuing for the 'Rampage' piece, and I'm hoping to have a set of finished pencils by the end of the week.

Monday 23rd August: Archive pieces 2

This piece has some history to it. Waaay back in the late '80's I was trying to get involved with drawing comics (again) when I noticed an ad for a title called Angel dust funnies that was looking for contributors. Unfortunately the title only lasted for about 5 issues before going the way of all things, but it allowed me to actually do a couple of strips.

The main character was a hero named NATHAN SPEED, and for the next few years I was haunted by the world he lived in. Eventually the strip evolved into the TOP SNAZZ COMICS project (must get round to posting the covers for that) which ran for six whol mini comics of its own before I couldn't carry on.

This piece was for a collection I did of the early drafts of the Nathan Speed stories, which if anybody wants a copy of I'll put in the post gladly.

Monday 23rd August: Archive pieces 1

found this whilst going through an old folder of stuff. Still liked it, so here it is:

Wednesday 18th August: Mighty Yammer

This marks the beginning of a story that is still running. I haven't touched it for over four years but I'll try to get it finished.

Saturday 14th August. Mighty Yammer: 10

This is the last of the original Yammer tales I did, the next time it appeared it was with a different set-up.

Saturday 14th August. Mighty Yammer: Lunch

This is the first (and so far only) full-page appearance by the Yammer. One of my favourite episodes, despite some well dodgy drawing, this was originally an A4 centrespread.

As ever, let me know what you think.

Wdenesday 11th August 2004: Archive shot 3

This pic is also from the aborted Space opera, and features a character who escaped. Originally to be the security officer for the Starship ARES, he decided to try his luck as a Search destroy agent and adopted the name Whistler!

This is also the result of a particularly boring session at college, when I should have been studying the finer points of the changing layout of Cadbury world!

Mighty Yammer 4

Wdenesday 11th August 2004: Archive shot 2

This pic is something more unusual. He is a sixth generation genetic experiment. He is also a blood thirsty vampire that can read minds.

I still have his story all worked out and written down (somewhere) and I might get round to it if I can sort out the ending properly.

The characters name is DACRON.

Wdenesday 11th August 2004: Archive shot 1

Trawling through the Bolt archive looking for stuff that might be of interest.

As I find anything I'll put it up and try to write something interesting

First up is a character who was intended to be the lead in a space opera. All the characters would be anthropomorphical (I'm a big admirer of Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo) and the adventures would take place on a space ship travelling to fight in a distant war. I was hoping to be able to tell enough stories that by the time I got to the war you would care about the characters enough that when I killed them it would have real resonance; but I could never come up with enough stories to make it worth the beginning.

This character starts the series as a stowaway, and becomes integral to the plot (such as it was)

Tuesday 10th August: Yammertime! again!

Been a bit on the quiet side here today, Got my second page of the latest Whistler lettered (6 2) and sent the back cover off to be coloured.

Going to start on page 3 tonight after Tea, all things serve the beam.

Tuesday 10th August: Yammertime!

This is the first episode I have had to re-letter, but I have kept the original dialogue. I apologise to 'brummies' everywhere.

Mighty Yammer 1

More to follow....

The Mighty Yammer is here.

Way back in the early nineties I was asked to contribute to a local clubbing magazine. This strip was the rsult. Only the first 5 were used, and were all re-written by the editor of the mag.

I'm going to have to re-write some of these as I have lost the copies with the original text, and the lettering may need to be re-sized anyway.

let me know what you think:

1st posting

Howdy Folks, Bolt-01 here at the start of something new.

Over the next however long I'll be posting stuff here, mostly comic strip but I might also have some other stuff I need to keep on-line.
